Medical Receptionist | Blackheath

We are looking for a friendly Medical Receptionist to join our practice in Blackheath. You will be reporting directly to the Practice Manager and Principal GP, managing the front desk reception area, welcoming patients to the centre and other administrative tasks. The right candidate would possess;

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Prior experience as a medical receptionist
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a very busy working environment
  • Must be well presented at all time
  • Punctuality and reliability essential
  • Previous experience with Best Practice or other medical software
  • Knowledge of Medicare and private medical billing
  • Friendly approachable manner
  • Interested in learning and taking on new responsibilities and assisting in practice growth
  • Minimum 1 year of general practice receptionist experience required

The roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet and greet all patients and medical representatives with exceptional customer service skills
  • Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documents
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
  • Attend to patient billing using the procedure/practice and software at the practice
  • Collect payments and/or process Medicare, DVA and Work-cover
  • Assisting the Practice Manager with maintaining accreditation, implementing initiatives and promotions, and improving centre performance.
  • Taking responsibility for staff management, and the efficient delivery of administrative and customer service aspects of the centre in instances the Practice Manager is absent from the Centre.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties and tasks directed by the practice manager.
  • Management of the waiting room including patient flow and tidiness.
  • General tidying and cleaning duties
  • Ordering medical and office supplies
