The Position:

The Young District Medical Centre is looking for a full-time General Practitioner with interest in Obstetrics to join our vibrant rural practice. O/Seas trained Fellows from Ireland, United Kingdom and New Zealand are more than welcome to apply. Our team of doctors provide obstetrics, emergency and anaesthetics on call for Young Health Service, delivering approximately 150 babies per year.

Young District Medical Centre is one of three medical centres in Young, staffed currently by 9 GPs with a wide range of skills, with full nursing and administrative support. Our Practice is a well-established, purpose-built, fully computerised (Best Practice), QPA accredited, mixed billing private practice. Treatment rooms and theatre facilities are available on site. Our Practice is soon to be co-located with a local state of the art, pathology, and imaging services. Visiting Specialists, Registrars, Medical Students and Allied Health Services all form part of the practice. We also provide services to the local Hospital as well as the Palliative Care/Rehab Hospital, and 2 Aged Care facilities.

The Community:

Young is located in the Hilltops Shire in southwest NSW, less than 4 hours (272kms) from Sydney and 2 hrs from Canberra in the Hilltops wine region. Young is surrounded by local industries which include orchards, vineyards, olive groves, strawberry farms as well as sheep, cattle and cereal grain crops. Young hosts the annual National Cherry Festival on the first full weekend of December.
