Tumut Family Medical Centre seeks a VR/VMO GP (FRACGP, FACRRM) to join our friendly and enthusiastic team. Fellowed or VRed doctors who are subject to the moratorium are eligible to apply. Negotiable remuneration.

Tumut Family Medical Centre was established in 2003 and has since expanded to provide 4 consulting rooms and a modern, well equipped treatment room. The practice is fully computerised and accredited, currently uses Best Practice Software and has visiting specialist and full-time nursing support (women’s health and immunisation accredited).

Tumut Health Service is a 34 bed peer grouped D1a Community Hospital with surgery, of which four beds are day surgery and four are bassinets. It provides emergency, medical, surgical, and maternity services for the surrounding communities. A full range of community health services including community nursing, allied health and mental health services are also delivered by the local team. An active operating theatre has visiting specialists and surgery times each week. Tumut Hospital has had a long affiliation with the University of New South Wales with medical students visiting.

Tumut and surrounding area is supported by an ambulance service.

Tumut is situated at the base of the Snowy Mountains. The town population is approx. 6250 with the shire being 11,000.
The closest regional airport is in Wagga Wagga which is just over an hours drive from Tumut and offers daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne. Tumut is situated on the Snowy Mountains Highway. NSW TrainLink provides one service daily except Saturday.
Wagga is 1 hour away and Canberra and Albury are an easy 2 hour drive away. Offering a snowy winter wonderland for the ski enthusiast, and water skiing and fishing on the Blowering Dam for the summer months, Tumut also provides many active sports in town including football (all codes), basketball, swimming, netball and as well as several well patronised gyms
The major sources of employment in Tumut are: manufacturing, retail, health care and social assistance, construction, accommodation and food services, education and training
Tumut has several child care centres, a pre-school, three primary schools and two high schools as well as a Riverina Institute of TAFE campus.

Shopping:

Tumut has Coles and Woolworths stores, a Country Target and a number of unique boutique stores. It is located just over an hour from the major regional centre of Wagga Wagga and approximately two hours from Canberra.

Places of worship located in Tumut include, but are not limited to, Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Uniting churches. The closest mosque is in Wagga Wagga which is just over one hours drive from Tumut.

Things to do:

Tumut is part of a region that’s a year-round playground. Annual events include the Festival of the Falling Leaf in April during which time the town also hosts the Rock the Turf Music Fest and Tumut Rodeo. Lanterns on the Lagoon and Sculptures in the Park is a Festival celebrating community, environment and culture and takes place in September.
