POSITION : General Practitioner
REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: Nil
HOURS: 40 hours per week
AWARD/CLASSIFICATION: Medical Practitioners Award 2010 MA000031- negotiated salary
LOCATION: Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS)
POSITION CONTEXT: ACCHO is a not for profit organisation providing culturally attuned, integrated health and community services
The Medical Practitioner clinical services to ensure the highest standards of Medical care for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients. This role includes the provision of culturally appropriate clinical care, oversight of clinical conditions and requirements, and community health promotion and health education activities to improve health status.

Comply with the provision of the Health Services Act (NSW) 1997 and the regulations to that act and comply with the policy directives and other policies issued by the Department of Health, Government Departments and CAHS
Observe the by-laws, directives and policies and procedures of CAHS
In order to maintain for the community an appreciation level of health services, practitioners are requested to provide as much notice of an intention to take leave as possible (6 weeks).
Promptly to report in writing to the Practice Manager any incident relating to clients of CAHS, which could possibly be expected to trigger any liability to any insurer whether it be that of CAHS or of the practitioner.
Clinical Duties
Provide care for clients of CAHS under your care during your work scheduled hours.
Maintain sufficient contact with the CAHS staff to ensure that any clinical issues are appropriately supervised and patient safety is maintained
Promptly undertake consultations when requested
Punctually attend rostered commitments
Take all reasonable steps the timely maintenance of adequate medical records of patients under your care
Ensure the communications with referring practitioners, other general practitioners and other health care providers is timely and comprehensive.
To provide adults and child health checks at the clinic, outreach clinics or other locations if and when required.
Attend meetings.
Attend rostered meetings as required by CAHS
Quality Activities and Risk Management
Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities conducted by CAHS
Be accountable for identifying, monitoring and managing clinical risks associated with your individual actions or decisions. Assist CAHS management with early assessment and appropriate action relevant to the risks.
Participate in continual medical education activities to meet your professional and registration requirements.
You are required to maintain your own Professional Indemnity Insurance cover. The amount shall be prescribed by CAHS from time to time.
Performance Review
Participate in the performance review system and participate in annual performance reviews undertaken and arranged by CAHS
The annual performance review will review performance in terms of both service delivery and quality. The aim of the performance reviews include:
o Feedback about the overall performance and identify appropriate development opportunities
o Review quality assurance, quality management and clinical risk management activities and ensure that relevant activities for the following year are established
o Review the performance of contractual obligations of the practitioner.
Each year you will provide CAHS with:
The document recording your New South Wales Medical Registration.
A copy of the Certificate of Currency or renewal confirming the currency of your Professional Indemnity Insurance Policy

Maintain any professional qualifications/registrations required as part of the position
Keep records and client notes in a professional way
To perform any other appropriate duties as required by the Practice Manager or the CEO
To participate on the roster to the Multi-Purpose Service sharing with other GP/VMOs
NOTE: This position will require the appointee to hold a current Driver licence.
GENERAL INFORMATION
All appointees to positions at CAHS are required to obtain a National Police Records Check or where applicable, a Working with Children Check (for work involving face to face or physical contact with under 18 year olds). The cost of NPRC and WWCC is the responsibility of the GP/VMO
A NPRC may be obtained by providing a completed application form and identification documents to Human Resources.
