Dietitian – Bourke
NSW Outback Division of General Practice (ODGP) is commissioned by the Western NSW Primary Health Network (WPHN) to manage a chronic disease service ‘Keeping Health Puura Manti Program (KHPMP)’. The focus of the KHPMP is to provide services where there is no alternative funding or services available for chronic disease prevention and management.
We are seeking to appoint a suitable Dietitian with chronic disease management experience (or an interest in this area) to a position based in Bourke. Please note – motivated new graduates will be considered for the role and will be supported with Clinical Supervision. The successful candidate will work with the KHPMP enrolled general practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) within Bourke and Surrounding LGA’s.

Essential Criteria:
- Qualification and registration satisfying eligibility requirements for membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program
- Current and/or willingness to gain registration with Medicare as a service provider
- Demonstrated highly developed organisational skills, including prioritisation, time-management skills and appropriate case-load management
- Demonstrated experience in working independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience and demonstrated ability working in a team environment
- An understanding of Aboriginal cultural competency and community protocols
- An understanding of the health issues affecting people in rural and remote areas and in particular Aboriginal communities
- Well demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Strong Computer literacy skills (word processing, medical software, database, internet & email)
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
Desirable Criteria
- Post graduate qualifications in a related and relevant area, particularly Chronic Disease
- Experience working within General Practice or Primary Health Care
- Experience working in the delivery of health services to rural and remote communities
- Experience working in the field of Aboriginal Health
- Understanding of chronic disease/condition management
- Experience in or understanding of funding cycles and reporting specific to not for profit organisations and deliverables
Conditions of employment

- You must comply with all mandatory training requirements necessary for the Employer to obtain and or maintain any accreditation required for funding relating to your position;
- You must not be prohibited by any legislation, or any contract with another party, from performing the position or any of them;
- You must not have any criminal history or record which would prevent you from working for the Employer in the position, a satisfactory criminal record check must be completed before you may commence employment, and you must consent to criminal record checks being conducted at other times during your employment if requested;
- You must be eligible and not restricted from working with children, a satisfactory working with children check must be completed before you may commence employment, and you must consent to a working with children being conducted at other times during your employment if requested;
- You must meet any other conditions required from time to time by the Employer’s funding provider(s) relevance to the performance of your duties.
The position is contracted until June 30th 2024. A highly attractive salary package starting at $40 per hour is offered based on skills and experience under the Health Professional and Support Services Award of 2019. Relocation costs and rental subsidy is also available for the successful candidate.
Remuneration Package:
A salary based on an hourly rate starting at $40.00 per hour will be negotiated and will be in line with the Award. The total salary package includes the hourly rate, plus superannuation and leave loading and a salary packaging benefit up to the amount of $15,900 per annum.
